Tibo Évora received "Award Amilcar Cabral" in Rome January 26, 2010
Tibo Evora, Cape Verdean artist residing in France was awarded with the prize Amilcar Cabral ", last Sunday in Cretcheu Cafe in Rome as part of celebrations of 20 January.
The meeting, like previous years, f hi organized by the Cape Verdean Association Onlus Tabanka , and had a large audience, who attended the greetings of the President of Tabanka Onlus, Canifis Jorge Alves which reaffirmed the importance of Cabral not only for Cape Verde, but for all Africa.
Following, Alicia Araujo Lopes introduced the figure of Thomas Sankara , leader of Burkina Faso, then, gave the floor to Secretary-General of the Movement of African Darbre Yacouba. This outlined the battles civic, social and political figure of a simple and extraordinary as that of Thomas Sankara .
Then spoke the President of the French association "Des Jeunes Pleyel" Tiemoko Coulibaly Évora (Evora, moreover Tibo) who spoke about the importance of Cabral in the modern era and the authorities' decision to dedicate Paris an avenue to Amilcar Cabral in the French capital, more precisely in Saint-Denis, a place of high concentration of Cape Verdeans.
